3D Robot vision powering safer and more efficient crankshaft production
A leading European automotive engine manufacturer deployed Pickit 3D robot vision to power safer and more efficient crankshaft production, now running autonomously during multiple shifts.
The solution involves picking and feeding of randomly stacked crankshafts into an automatic deburring, polishing and finishing line. Previously this process was done manually by an operator. The Fanuc robot with a dedicated gripper picks parts randomly out of a bin and places them into a jig. At the jig, the crankshaft gets automatically turned into the correct axial orientation. Our SD2 robot-mounted camera is used for this application.
